BIO-VAC SGP695 | Poultry vaccine

• Withdrawal period for vaccines: 21 days.
• Vaccinate healthy animals only.
• Ensure that all the birds in the flock receive the correct vaccine dose at the same time.
• Ensure that the drinking water used for administration is free from disinfectants and detergents.
• Do not slaughter animals for human consumption for at least 21 days after vaccination. Ensure the marketed animals do not have elevated temperature reactions (fever) as this may result in the condemnation of the carcasses.
• Do not mix this vaccine with any other vaccine or medication.
• Do not use within 2 weeks of antimicrobial treatment.
• Do not inject intravenously.
• Vaccination of animals in production may lead to a slight decrease/drop in production.
• Accidental self-injection could lead to a severe allergic reaction. Consult a physician and provide him/her with vaccine details.
• Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.
• Although this remedy has been tested, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and contact the registration holder.

Special precautions for use in animals.

• The possibility of transmission of the vaccine strain from the vaccinated birds to subjects in contact is very low.
• Vaccination may induce a positive serological response to the test for antibodies to Salmonella pullorum.
• S. gallinarum/pullorum is a species-specific salmonella and is not considered a zoonotic agent.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals:

• Use protective gloves when the vaccine is reconstituted. Avoid the formation aerosols. Disinfect and wash the hands after handling the vaccine.
• Do not swallow.
• Avoid contact of the product with skin, eyes and mouth.
• Wash and disinfect the hands after handling chicken feces, particularly in the 5 weeks after vaccination.
• In case of ingestion, self-inoculation or accidental contact of the vaccine with the skin or mucosae, see a doctor and show him/her the package leaflet.

The vaccine strain is sensitive in vitro (according to the Kirby-Bauer method) to various antibiotics: nalidixic acid, oxolinic acid, amoxicillin, ampicillin, apramycin, cefadroxil, cephalexin, cefoperazone, chloramphenicol, colistin, enrofloxacin, florfenicol, flumequine, gentamicin, kanamycin, marbofloxacin, neomycin, nitrofurantoin, streptomycin, tetracycline, thiamphenicol, trimethoprim + sulphonamides.

• Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst handling the product.
• Dispose of any containers, disposable equipment and any other waste after use in accordance with National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No 59 of 2008).
• Do not store unused containers for future use.
• Do not contaminate rivers, dams or any water sources with containers or waste.
• Observe aseptic precautions. Ensure that all vaccination equipment (containers, syringes and needles) are clean and sterile prior to and during use.
• Do not use disinfectants or antiseptics to sterilise any equipment or drinking water equipment.
• Destroy any unused vaccine and dispose of all the vaccine containers and disposable equipment after use in accordance with National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008).
• Adhere to the vaccination programme to obtain optimum results.

Interaction with other medicinal products
Vaccination with BIO-VAC SGP695 does not have negative effects on the immunological response to the normal vaccination programmes contemplated in pullet flocks.
Do not administer concurrently with antibiotics or chemotherapeutic agents against salmonella; if this should occur, repeat the vaccination.
Use during pregnancy, lactation or lay
Administration of the vaccine to laying hens is entirely safe.
